Hougendobler LARUE — Robert J. Hougendobler, age 93, of LaRue, died Friday afternoon, Feb. 9, 2007, at the Sunbridge Care and Rehab Center in Marion. He was born Jan. 20,1914, in Wyandot County, to the late Asa Earl and Vera (Newell) Hougendobler. Bob was a 1933 graduate of the Marseilles High School; he then worked as a Sohio Prod- ucts Distributor for more than 43 years, serving Western Marion, Eastern Hardin and Southern Wyandot Counties, delivering fuel oil, kerosene and gas; he started his career with the Johnson Oil Company in 1937 and then worked for Sohio from 1944 until he re- tired in 1980. He was a member of the LaRue United Methodist Church, member of the LaRue Lodge 463 F. & AM., Mont- gomery Township Trustee for 15 years. Bob was also very active in helping to care for the Montgomery Township Cemeteries for many years. Bob was a true Elgin Comet fan, rarely missing a game, until his health kept him away. He will be missed by his de- voted family and extended Elgin family. On Dec. 16, 1934, he mar- ried Deborah (Wood) and she died Dec. 12,2004; he was also predeceased by one son, Robert J. Hougendobler; two brothers, Raymond and Don- ald; and one sister, Reva Yauger. Surviving is his daughter, Betty Jo (William) McElroy of New Bloomington; grandchil- dren Natalie (Rob) Askew of Richwood, Jeffrey (Krista) McElroy of Pasco, Wash., Michele McElroy of Dublin and Rhonda McElroy of Dick- son, Tenn,; five great-grand- children, Nathaniel and i Caitlin Askew, Bristol, Baiden and Baylor McElroy; two sis- ters, Louise James and Phyllis (Bob) Reid both of Marseilles; and sisters-in-law Leah Jane Hougendobler of Forest and Maxine Hougendobler of Kenton. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in LaRue, where there will be Masonic services at 4:45 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the fu- neral home. Burial will be in the LaRue Cemetery. The Rev. Edward Fugate will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to the LaRue U.M. Church Building Fund at 166 N. High St. LaRue, OH 43332. | |||
