Mary Virginia Kannel


MARION—Mary Virginia Kannel, age 93, formerly of New Bloomington, died tues-day, April 10, 2007, at 11:55 a.m, at Marion General Hospital.
She was born Oct. 13,1913, in Radnor, to the late Walter and Maggie (Anderson) Baxter.
On March 24, 1940, she married Clare E. (Dick) Kannel and he died Dec. 12,1977.
She is survived by one brother, Kenneth Baxter of Marion; four nephews, Darrel (Judy) Baxter and family, Steve (Deb) Baxter and family, Jim (Rosie) Wornstaff and family, and Ron (Karen) Baxter and family; three nieces, Jane (Tim) Malishenko and family, Sally (Jeff) Queden-feld and family and Betty (Don) Snodgress and family.
She was preceded in death by one brother, George Baxter, one sister, Sara Wornstaff and one nephew, Jerry Baxter.
Mrs. Kannel worked as a receiving clerk at the Marion Power Shovel for 30 years and was a member of the New Bloomington United
Methodist Church since 1931. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women and the Prospect Senior Citizens. She graduated from Agosta High School in 1932.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 13, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the New Bloomington United Methodist Church. Minister will be Pastor Christopher W. Wiseman. Burial in the Agosta Cemetery. Friends may call at the Church one hour before service time on Friday.
