Mildred M. Houk


Mildred M. Houk, 96, of Richwood, died early Thursday morning, Aug. 24, 2006, at the DeWolfe House in Marion.
She was a homemaker, of.the Methodist faith, formerly belonged to the Grange, enjoyed square dancing, was very active at the Rich-wood Fair, serving as the head of the fine arts department for many years, and she enjoyed sewing, cooking, handcrafts and baking.
The joy of her life was her family
She was born July 29, 1910, in Jackson Township, Union County, to the late Noah M. and Ernestine Manley Dutton. On Dec. 31, 1930, in Marysville, she married Paul W. Houk, and he died in 1985. She also was predeceased by a son, Robert W. Houk; a brother; and four sisters.
Surviving is her daughter, Janice (Gale) Price of Richwood; grandchildren, Teresa (John) Gosser, Gale Price and Gene (Terri) Price; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood, with the Rev. Fred Cheney officiating. Burial will be at Claibourne Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Northern Union County Fire & E.M.S. Association or the North Union FFA.
