Betty Jean Schaber


MARION — Betty Jean Schaber, age 74, of Marion, formerly of New Bloomington, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, at 3:50 a.m. at Community Healthcare Center in Marion.
 She was born Aug. 19, 1932 in Marion, to the late William Eslie and Faye (Hindman) May.
On Oct. 10, 1948, at the New Bloomington United Methodist Church, she married Howard LaRoy Schaber and he survives.
Also surviving are four children, David Sr. (Connie) Schaber of Caledonia, Connie (Gary) Conley of New Bloomington, William (Lisa) Schaber of LaRue and Ronald (Paula) Schaber of Marion; eight grandchildren, David Jr. (Sara) Schaber, Shannon Burt, Chantell Conley, Shaun (Jenn) Conley, Ronni Lea and Justin Ray Schaber, all of Marion, Billy and Courtney Schaber of LaRue; one stepgrandchild, Jason (Debbie Hopkins) of New Bloomington; 10 great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Hopkins of New Bloomington, Brooklyn and Liberty Schaber, Ryan Foreman, Colton Dickerson, Bentley Conley,
Darian Price, Justin McMil-lian, Kennedy Burroughs and Noah Davis, all of Marion; one brother, Charles May of Bro-kensword; and one half brother, Ivan Lanius of Marion. She was raised by the late August Cecil and Myrtle Keirns.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Schaber was a dedicated housewife and a dependable mother. She was a member of the New Bloomington United Methodist Church.
Services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Stofcheck Funeral i Home in LaRue. Minister will be the Rev. Harry Burchell III. Burial in the LaRue Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home in LaRue from 5-8 p.m. on Monday.
Those who wish may make contributions to the Quality of Life Hospice in care of Marion General Hospital.
Pall bearers will be David Schaber Jr., Shaun Conley, Billy Schaber, Jason Hopkins, Fred Schaber and Arthur E. Keirns, with Justin Schaber being an honorary pall bearer.
