John A. Hildreth


John A. Hildreth, 82, died peacefully in his sleep late Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006, at his home in Richwood.
He was born Aug. 20, 1924, in Lebanon, Ind., to the late James and Mattie Conrad Hildreth. He was preceded in death by five brothers.
John was a retired laborer and had been a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Marion. He enjoyed spending time on his C.B., watching movies, camping, going to family get togethers and was famous for his story telling.
On June 30, 1945, he married Maxine L. Mitchell and she died in March 2002.
Surviving are his children: Peggy L. (Gary) Wurtsbaugh of Richwood, Gary D. Hildreth of Marion, Kenneth E. (Gloria) Hildreth of Marion and Danny T. (Bobi Jo) Hildreth of Richwood; grandchildren, Stacey N. Barett, Amanda L. Wurtsbaugh, Beulah M. (Shane) VonDach, Kenneth Hildreth Jr., Bryan K. (Sarah) Hildreth, Brandon M. Hildreth and Brandy Hildreth; great grandchildren, Kerrigan A. VonDach, Mattie S. and Emily N. Hildreth; two sisters, Evelyn Farrin of Marysville and Mary Ann Bark of Alabama.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood where funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the Broadway Cemetery and Pastor Ray Mullins will officiate.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
