Virgil Paul Reed

MARION — Virgil Paul Reed, age 95, of Marion, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006, at the DeWolfe House.
He was born March 1, 1911, in Gilmer County, W. Va., to the late Nathan and Bessie (Matheny) Reed.
He was a machinist and taught machine shop. He had formerly lived in West Virginia, Michigan, Ohio, Florida and Tennessee. He was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Knoxville, Tenn, and had been active in the Lions Club.
He is survived by two daughters, Donna Jo (Richard) Spracklen LaRue and Janet (Ronald) Hess, St. Albans, W. Va.; four grandchildren, Denise (James) Savers, Edison, David (Nita) Spraclden, Delaware, Daniel (Karen) Spraclden of Morral and Whitney (Scott) Brown, St. Albans, W. Va.; seven great- grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Mary Johnson, Arizona, Marguerite Roe, Michigan and Josephine Adams of West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Wilma (Rastle) Reed; a son, David Paul; one brother, Joseph Reed: and two sisters, Zelma Radcliff and Virginia Leeson.
Burial will be in held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5,2006, in the Bridgeport Cemetery, Bridgeport, W. Va. followed by a memorial service held at 11:30 a.m. at St. Johanne's Lutheran Church, St. Clar a, Doddridge County, W. Va.
Memorial contributions may be made to either the St. Johanne's Lutheran Church or the Heartland Hospice.
