Ercella Waneta Roux


GAINESVILLE, Fla: — Ercella Waneta Roux, 90, Melrose, formerly of LaRue, died Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, at the VA Medical Center in Gainesville, Fla.
She was born April 11, 1915, in Jackson, Miss., to the late Ernest Wheating and Lona Marie (Dickason) Black. After her mother's death, she was raised by Ralph. B. and Leona P. Howison near DeCliff in Montgomery Township, Marion County, Ohio.
On Nov. 24, 1945, in Upper Sandusky, she married Richard DeVer Roux and he died Aug. 21, 1999, in Marion, Ohio.
She is survived by a son, Richard Stephen (Gloria Jean Collins) Roux, of Melrose, Fla., formerly of the LaRue area; two grandsons, Richard Kyle Roux and John Kraig Collins Roux; two stepgrandchildren, Teresa Swartz, Richwood, Ohio, and Kevin Steele of Galion, Ohio; three great-grandchildren; a niece, Maureen Sager of Marion, Ohio; and a nephew, Gary B. (Nancy) Patterson of Beaver Falls, Pa.; three sisters-in-law, Virginia (Donald) Greenwood of New Bloomington, June (Roux) Appelfeller of Madison and Eloise (Roux) Lust of Marion; a brother-in-law, Robert A Jones of Bellefontaine; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews by marriage.
Her sister and brother-in-law, Donna E . and A.B. (Pat) Patterson and a niece, Chloe Donna Patterson, are deceased.
Mrs. Roux graduated from LaRue High School. She served in the U.S. Navy Waves during World War II, enlisting in 1944. For several years was employed as a beautician in LaRue. A homemaker, she was a member of American Legion Post 101 in LaRue and a former member of the Jam Club of LaRue.
Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005, at 3 p.m. at the LaRue Cemetery. Minister will be the Rev. Donald J. Riker. Military rites will be conducted by the Marion Area Veterans Council. Local arrangements are in charge of the Stofcheck Funeral Home in LaRue.
