Earnest L. Stiffler


RICHWOOD — Earnest L. Stiffler, age 87, of 8076 Davis-Kirk Road, Richwood, died Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at 8:20 p.m. at Marion Manor.
He was born March 2, 1918, in Marion County, to the late Jay D. and Emma (Miley) Stiffler.
On April 5,1947, he married Marthabelle Kirk. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, John Jay (Jan) Stiffler of Richwood and Donald L. (Pam) Stiffler of Prospect; four grandchildren, Karla (Tom) Steurer, Prospect, Lori (Aaron) Stidham of Richwood, Amy (Mike) Feasel of Richwood and Leslie Stiffler of Prospect; six greatgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. One brother, Ray Stiffler and one sister, Dorothy Lauer, are deceased.
Mr. Stiffler was a retired farmer, served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II, member of the Verne I. Mounts Post 368 American legion of Prospect, member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Prospect, former member of the Prospect Senior Citizens and former director of the Prospect Farmers Exchange for about 12 years.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 4, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Prospect. Minister will be the Rev. Russell Makant. Burial in the Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday and one hour before the service Saturday at the church. Graveside rites will be conducted by the Marion Area Veterans Council.
