Robert N. Jerew

Robert N. Jerew, 67, of Richwood, died unexpectedly early Thursday morning, May 19, 2005, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
He retired as a fire marshal from the Whirlpool Corp. after 39 years of employment and was captain of the Richwood Fire Department, where he served for 51 years. He also served on the Whirlpool Fire Department (PEO) for 34 years. He was a member of the Marion National Guard for 12 years, a member of the Marion National Guard Veterans Association for many years and a member of the Goldwing Riders Association. For the past several years he worked at G&H Threads in Richwood. He also had worked part time at Kale Marketing in Richwood.
The joys of his life were his family, especially his grandchildren, his friends, of which there are many, and the fire department.
He was bom June 2, 1937, in Union County, to the late William and Delia Douglas Jerew. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Marion Jerew, and a sister, Maxine Jerew Woods.
On Oct. 9, 1955, he married Shirley A. Beeney at the Richwood Church of Christ, and she survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Pam Simpson of North Carolina; a son, Scott (Kelly) Jerew of Richwood; grandchildren, Karie (John) Whitmore and Gus and Harley Jerew; a sister, Patty (Loraine) Bassinger of Kenton; three brothers, Kenneth Jerew of Byhalia, Bill (Grace) Jerew of Richwood, and Jerry (Delores) Jerew of Green Camp; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Stofcheck Funeral Home, Richwood, where funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m., with the Rev. Joseph Rhea officiating.
Burial with veteran services conducted by the Richwood American Legion and VFW posts, will follow in Claibourne Cemetery.
Pall bearers will be Rod Evans, Jack Kirby, Jason Beeney, Jim
Jerew, Jim Wiley, Jeff Swartz, DeLynn Kale and Al Sycks. Honorary pall bearers will be Kenny Jerew, Bill Jerew, Jerry Jerew, Ernie Beeney, Elmer Simpson, Dick Tevis, Bill Davis and Steve Leeth.
Donations may be made to a fund set up in the deceased's memory for the purpose of purchasing a new fire truck. They may be sent to 602 N. Franklin St., Richwood, Ohio 43344.
