John Henry Allen


LARUE — John Henry Allen, age 81, of 7108 Sager Road, LaRue, died Saturday, May 14, 2005, at 5:10 a.m. at Heartland of Marion.
He was born Jan. 18,1924, in Bowling Green Township on Allen Road to the late Lester and Hazel (Retterer) Allen.  On Dec. 5, 1948, he married Betty Lou Clay and she died Nov. 1,1996.
He is survived by five children, David E. (Renee) Allen of Marion, Gary J. (Susan) Allen of Marion, Linda A. (Ray) Thomas of Delaware, Steven J. (Penny) Allen of Marion and Marilyn (Sam) Towns of Bluffton, Ind.; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Foos of LaRue and Doris (John) Davis of Bellefontaine. Four brothers, James, Sam, William and Donald, are deceased.
Mr. Allen was a farmer, also was a maintenance foreman at Marion Power shovel, member of the Moose and Eagles lodges in Marion, the K of P Lodge at Essex, life member of the Elgin Athletic Boosters, was a Cub Scout leader and a 4-H advisor.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in LaRue. Officiating will be Ray Thomas. Burial in the Price Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home in LaRue from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday.
