Richard J. "Dick" Shepard


Richard J. "Dick" Shepard, 66, of Radnor, died Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was a graduate of St. Benedict's High School in Cambridge, and started working at the age of 18 for the Corrugated Container Co. in Columbus, which was later to become the Weyerhaeuser Co. in Delaware. He retired at the age of 62 after 44 years of employment. In recent years, Mr. Shepard worked at Mom Wilson's Meat Market.
He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events and being outdoors. He was especially fond of his dog Skippy.
He was born May 21, 1938, in Cambridge, to the late Warren J. and Mary M. Duniver Shepard. On July 3, 1967 in Clintwood, Va., he married Ann M. Blankenship, and she died Dec. 18, 2000.
He is survived by his children, Tammy Anita (Terry) Henderson of West Mansfield, Mary Marie Shepard of Marengo, Bridget Anne (Ralph) Dix of Cambridge, James Dean Bailey and Richard Joseph Shepard Jr., both of Richwood, and Michael Kevin Shepard of Dayton; his grandchildren, Sarah Henderson-Stetzinger, Tammy Bailey, Katie Henderson, Michael, Brittany, Emily and Skyler Shepard, Jett Mooney and Christine and Stephanie Dix; three great-grandchildren; iwo sisters, Sister Maureen Anne Shepard of Manitowoc, Wis., and Barbara B. Masters of Columbus; and a brother, John C. "Jack" Shepard of Grove City.
Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Stofcheck Funeral Home, Richwood, where funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Kevin Kavanagh will officiate and burial will be in Shoup (Thompson Township) Cemetery.
