Lewis S. Witherspoon


Lewis S. Witherspoon, 82, of Columbus, formerly of Richwood, died Monday, March 28,2005, at First Community Village in Columbus.
A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he was a retired attorney and worked for many years for the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) and then in private practice for 20 years. He was a member of Richwood United Methodist Church. He enjoyed watching the Ohio State University women's basketball team and was involved in the Rebounder's Club, where he was a past officer.
He had trained and competed with golden retriever dogs and enjoyed model trains, fishing, gardening and canning. He was very enthusiastic about whatever hobby he was doing.
He was born July 17,1922, in Sabina to the late William H. and Hil-dred Staubus Witherspoon. He also was preceded in death by four wives, Susan Sparks, Nancy, Marjorie Bahnsen and Margaret Keigley and a brother, Allan.
He is survived by a son, Lewis Stevens (Diane) Witherspoon of Columbus, and their children, Jesse and Lucas. He also is survived by stepchildren, Christine Yore of Columbus, C. Ted (Nan) Koerner of Chattanooga, Tenn., Dan (LaDonna) Dusing of Columbus, Susie (Larry) Leeper of Marion, Sherry (Gary) Cornwell of Sarasota, Fla., Ron (Tammy) Keigley of Richwood, Kathalee (David) Brashares of Medina and Bill (Carolyn) Keigley of Columbus; numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a brother, William H. Witherspoon of Bel-lville.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 1 pm. at First United Methodist Church in Richwood. The Rev. Joseph Rhea will officiate and burial will be at the Claibourne Cemetery where military services will be conducted. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.
