Cleo Janette Layne, 83, of Mount Gilead, formerly of Essex, died
unexpectedly Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at her home with her husband at her bedside. She was a homemaker. She was born July 22, 1920, in Martel to the late Weldon and Janette Massey Lama and was predeceased by two sisters, a brother and her first husband, Lynn Seaman in 1973. She is survived by her husband, Richard Austin Layne whom she married Dec. 13, 1981; a son, Charles Lester Douglas of LaRue; two daughters, Eloise Poland of Mount Gilead and Sharon Douglas; grandchildren, Brice Blanton, Shannon Plott, Nicole Tennar, Richard and Amy Moss and Jeffrey Moss and Brian Moss; and great-grandchildren, Sidney, Sutton, Isabelle, Brianna, Joey, Keegen, Garret and Kelsi. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ballinger Funeral Home. Pastors Robert L. Matney and J.R. Smith will officiate and burial will be at the Price Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Tabor Freewill Baptist Church or True Bible Church in care of the funeral home. | |||
