Deborah Hougendobler


LARUE — Deborah Hougendobler, age 89, of LaRue, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, at 2:35 a.m. at Hardin Hills Health Center in Kenton.
She was born Jan. 19,1915, in Hardin County, to the late Aubrey and Bertha (Drews) Wood.
On Dec. 16, 1934, she married Robert J. Hougendobler and he survives.
Also surviving is one daughter, Betty Jo (William) McElroy of New Bloomington; four grandchildren, Natalie (Rob) Askew of Richwood; Jeffrey (Krista) McElroy of Pasco, Wash., Michele McElroy of Dublin and Rhonda McElroy of Dickson, Tenn.; five greatgrandchildren, Nathaniel and Caitlin Askew, Bristol, Baiden and Baylor McElroy; one brother, Myron (Phyllis) Wood of Kenton; and one sister, Kathryn (Rowland) McElheny of Marion. One son, Robert J. Hougendobler Jr., five brothers and three sisters are deceased.
Mrs. Hougendobler was a homemaker, was a wonderful seamstress, loved to knit, crochet and did quilting, mostly for others. She was a great cook and was an avid reader, member of LaRue United Methodist Church, Mary Martha Circle, taught Sunday school, was a 4-H advisor, member of the Mary Lenox Chapter 98 Order of Eastern Star and the 20th Century Club.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in LaRue. Minister will be the Rev. Edward W. Fugate. Burial in the LaRue Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home in LaRue from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
