Leo E. Speicher


Leo E. Speicher, 80, of Richwood died Wednesday, Aug.  11, 2003 at the Gables at Green Pastures in Marysville.
He was born Dec. 15, 1923 in Marysville to the late David Franklin and Catherine Kendall Speicher.
He was a 1942 graduate of the Magnetic Springs High School and a World War II Army veteran serving in Europe. He was a veterans service officer in Union County for 25 years. He had worked at The Scotts Co. and the railroad and farmed.
He was a member of the Richwood Church of Christ, American Legion Post 79 Marysville, 40 et 8 Voiture #857 Marysville, Prospect Senior Citizens, Richwood Civic Center, and a life member of the Raymond VFW Post 9909. He enjoyed playing cards, traveling, playing golf, fishing and bowling.
On March 11, 1945, he married June Neer and she died April 12, 1993. On June 20, 1996, he married Virginia Cole Carrel, who survives.
Also surviving are sons, Danny (Betty) of Belle Center, Burt (Lois) of Kenton, Leo (Rose) of Richwood, David (Colleen) of Marysville, Victor (Virginia) of West Mansfield, Stacey of Marysville and Troy of West Mansfield; daughters, Peggy (Marvin) Geho of Marysville and Tina (Allen) Shaw of Dexter, Mich'.; 27 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Gary (Linda) Carrel of Richwood and Pat (Rusty) Eagle of Delaware; a brother, Gene Speicher of Richwood; and sister, Mary Bolenbaugh of West Tawas, Mich.
Preceding him in death was a son, Charles Leroy; two brothers, Kendall and Frank; and two sisters, Mabel Hobart and Dorothy Fryman.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Richwood Church of Christ. Burial will be in the Raymond Cemetery, where there will be veteran graveside services conducted by the Richwood VFW, Richwood American Legion and Raymond VFW posts. The Rev. Scot Gorsuch will officiate.
