Goldie Hickok Perkins


Goldie Hickok Perkins, 97, formerly of Richwood, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at Sunbridge Care Center in Marion.
She was valedictorian of the Pharisburg High School class of 1923 and graduated from Richwood High School in 1924. She attended normal school at Richwood and Ohio University and taught in one-room school houses in Richwood and Broadway before her marriage. She was a dedicated member of the Richwood First Baptist Church.
She was born March 30,1906, in Union County to the late William M. and Delia Mariah Shreyer Hickok and was predeceased by 12 brothers and sisters, Glenna Nichols, Lewis Hickok, George Hickok, Sarah Warner, Ora Patch Kelsey, Dennis Hickok, Cleveland Hickok, Mary Coder, Bertha Davis Frank Hickok, Delno Hickok and Estelle Lewis Fillinger. She married Charles H. Perkins July 21, 1928, in the parsonage of the First Baptist Church in Richwood and they were married for 70 years when he died Aug. 4, 1998.
She is survived by her children, C. Marvin (Georgene) Perkins of Rockville, Md., D. Duane Perkins and L. Gale (Marilyn) Perkins of Richwood and H. Ann Perkins of Hagerstown, Md.; grandchildren, Brian Perkins, Cathy Perkins, Teresa Markham, David Perkins, Christine Perkins, Mary Jones, Alan Perkins, Gary Perkins, Kevin Perkins, Wendy Winters, Philip Wolfle and Ernest Wolfle III; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Richwood. The Rev. Alan Perkins, grandson of the deceased, will officiate and burial will be at the Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church at 101 E. Ottawa St., Richwood.
