Rachel Prichard, 89, of rural Richwood died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at
Maplewood Nursing Home in Marion. She was a homemaker. She was a 1931 graduate of Richwood High School and was the class valedictorian. She had been a member of Central United Methodist Church and after her marriage, she became an active member of the Richwood First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Annie Richards Circle, was a former deaconess and had taught Sunday School for many years. She was known for visiting friends and neighbors, bringing friendship and baked goods, and she nurtured many young people in the area through her babysitting. She had a talent for making Barbie Doll clothes for young girls and was a former 4-H leader. She had a great love for all of her family. She was born Nov. 29, 1913, in Claibourne Township to the late Clarence Thomas and Ellen May Tuttle Kinney and was predeceased by a son-in-law, David Young; a brother, Bill Kinney; and a sister, Margaret Minner. She married Penrose Prichard Feb. 4, 1940, at the Central United Methodist parsonage and he died Sept. 4, 1986. She is survived by three daughters, Betty (Don) Wheeler of Radnor, Kathryn (Jim) Price of Marysville and Jo Ann Young of Richwood; six grandchildren, Wendy Wheeler, Dean (Kim) Wheeler, Jeff (Amy) Price, Jamie (John) Weaver, David (Cheryl) Young and Tim (Shari) Young; and six great-grandchildren, Tallie Wheeler, Nicholas Price, Jennifer and Lance Young and Malayla and Alexandria Young. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood. The Rev. Barbara Stevens will officiate and burial will be at the Price Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. | |||
