MARION — John Paul Owen, age 87, formerly of LaRue, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, at 9:15 p.m. at Marion Manor.
He was born Sept. 12,1915, in Bowling Green Township, Marion County, to the late Paul Os-bourne and Ivah D. (Trihaft) Owen.
He is survived by one brother, Oscar Preston (Charlotte) Owen of Cardington; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth (Ralph) Stevenson of Circleville and Rosa Delia Owen of Marion; also nieces and nephews and great- and great-great nieces and nephews plus cousins. One sister, Lillie May Nickel, is deceased.
Mr. Owen was a retired self-employed farmer, member of the LaRue United Methodist Church since 1931, a grange member since 1935, first with the Bowling Green Grange and later with the Tymochtee Grange. He was a 4-H advisor and a member of the Marion County Farm Bureau. He was an avid gardener and loved flowers.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, at 11 a.m. at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in LaRue. Minister will be the Rev. Edward W. Fugate. Burial in the LaRue Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home in LaRue from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday.
