John J. Shirk Jr., 68, of rural Richwood died unexpectedly Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, at his home.
He had worked as a janitor at the former Medcenter Hospital in Marion. He also sold Prudential Insurance and had an Omar then a Vickies Bakery routes. He was a past member of the Eagle Lodge in Kenton. He enjoyed spending time at home listening to the radio and .vatching sports on television. He was also an avid gardener.
He was born July 4, 1934, in Peoria to the late John J. and Jessie :.unice Laughorn Shirk Sr. and was predeceased by three sisters, Setty J. Rider, Wilma F. Emmons and Joan Shirk; and a brother, He is survived by his companion of 12 years, Shirley Davie, her laughter, Karen Taylor, and her children, Eric and Amy Taylor and .ara Hatcher; his children, Randy and Terry Shirk of Marion, Tim • hirk of Gables, Mich., Lisa Fruth of Republic and Amy Shirk of bledo; two stepsons, Jim Shirk of Tucson, Ariz., and Lee Shirk of larion; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; a great-grand-aughter; two sisters, Bernice (Dwight) Williams and Mary Ann .eefer of Marion; and a brother, Larry L. (Phyllis) Shirk of Marion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Stofcheck uneral Home in Richwood. The Rev. Victoria Powers-Smith will I'ficiate and burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call om 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
