Finnis "Bill" Akers


LARUE — Finnis "Bill" Akers, age 83, of 385 LaRue Kenton Road, LaRue, died at 2:40 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 30,1918, in South Point to the late Harrison and Anna (Horn) Akers. On April 7,1942, he married Dova Bartee, and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, William (Dixie) Akers of LaRue, and Keith (Karyl) Akers of Rich-wood; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Clifford "Jim" Akers of Marion; and one sister, Irene Akers of Tennessee.
A daughter. Phyllis Stoner, three brothers and five sisters are deceased.
Mr. Akers was a sheet metal setup welder at the Marion Power Shovel Company and a former member of the Prospect Senior Citizens.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at the LaRue Cemetery.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in LaRue. Those who wish may make contributions to the Quality of Life Hospice in care of Marion General Hospital.
