Clair Eldon (Whitey) Dutton


MARION — Clair Eldon (Whitey) Dutton, age 72, of 3200 Smeltzer Road, Marion, died Thursday, July 18, 2002, at 2:15 p.m. at his residence.
He was born Jan. 24,1930, in Agosta, (New Bloomington) to the late Harry Roy and Elizabeth (Dall) Dutton.
On June 25,1950, he married Margaret Ann Moury and she survives. They were married 52 years.
Also surviving is one daughter, Jean Ann Dutton of Marion, and four sons, James R. (Dana) Dutton of Marion, Charles A. (Kathy) Dutton of New Bloomington, William R. (Penni) Dutton of Marion and K. Fred (Mary) Dutton of Marion; 14 grandchildren; one brother, Edwin Gene (Ria) Dutton of Texas.
One grandson, Andrew Joseph Dutton, one brother, Richard L. Dutton, and one sister, Phyllis Hennessee are deceased.
Mr. Dutton was a devoted husband and father, enjoyed sports, bowling, NASCAR, U-control airplanes and working as a tool and die maker at Whirlpool, where he worked for 35 years. He also was a carpenter, having built several homes. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1949.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 22,2002, at 11 a.m., at the Green Camp United Methodist Church. Ministers will be the Rev. Douglas Dowson and the Rev. Nancy Ratz. Burial in the Agosta Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, 2002, at the Green Camp United Methodist Church.
