Esther A. Wood

MARION — Esther A. Wood, age 93, died Saturday, June 8, 2002, at 10:52 p.m. at Marion General Hospital.
She lived most of her life in Hardin and Marion counties residing the last few years at Maplewood Nursing Home in Marion.
She was born Feb. 9,1909, in Hepburn, to the late Aubrey and Bertha (Drews) Wood.
She graduated from LaRue High School in 1926, and from the Grant School of Nursing in 1932. She served in the Army Nurses Corp during World War II. She retired from Kable Fulfillment Corp. in Marion after working there for 17 years.
She is survived by one brother, Myron (Phyllis) Wood of Kenton, two sisters, Kathryn (Rowland) McElheny of Marion and Deborah (Robert) Houdendou-bler of LaRue and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Madison, Karl, James and Fred Wood and one sister, Edith Hickman.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at 11:30 a.m. at the Lee Cemetery in Hardin County. Minister will be the Rev. Edward W. .Fugate. Friends may call at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in LaRue from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
Those who wish may make contributions to either the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
Pallbearers will be Rowland McElheny Jr., Dennis Marquis, Michael Wood, Tim Wood, Doug Hickman and Dick Hickman.
