Sherry Lee Oates



Sherry Lee Oates, 56, of the Byhalia area died Wednesday, April
17, 2002, at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
She was a farm wife and a member of Community United Methodist Church in York Center, Mothers Club, Garden Club and B.Y.C.O. She had served as secretary for the Richwood Fair Board and worked at The Scotts Co. and the former Marblecast in Rich-wood.
She was born Feb. 1, 1946, in Kenton to the late Ross and Opal Elsasser Phelps.
She is survived by her husband, John F. Oates whom she married Nov. 26, 1966, in Michigan; a daughter, Traci (Todd) Hoffman of Byhalia; a son, Tim (Brandy) Oates of Columbus; three grandchildren, Tate and Thane Hoffman and Alexandria Oates; a sister, Carol Ann Phelps of Carroll; a niece and nephew, Cassie Harrod and Josh Harrod of Bellefontaine; and an uncle, James (Bad) Elsasser of Kenton.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the York Cemetery. The Revs. Phyllis Radlinski, Herk McGraw and Donna Morley will officiate. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood.
