David Allen Young



David Allen Young, 64, of near Richwood died unexpectedly
Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at his home.
He was a 1955 graduate of Harding High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a dry wall finisher and painter with H&H Decorating in Marion and had formerly owned his own business, David Young Drywall. He was amember of the First Baptist Church of Richwood, had played in the Marion Concert Band and was previously active with the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed bowling, camping, backpacking, music and fishing and was a member of the Ohio Bluegrass Association and the United States Canoeing Association.
He was born Nov. 20, 1937, in Marion to Ralph Oliver and Vera Mae Vanbuskirk Young and was predeceased by his mother.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, Helen Wise Young of Marion; his wife Jo Ann Prichard Young whom he married July 1, 1968, at the First Baptist Church of Richwood; two sons, David Andrew (Cheryl) Young of Norwalk and Timothy Jay (Shari) Young of Elgin, 111.; two granddaughters, Jennifer Anne and Makayla Rose; a brother, Ralph Oliver (Leisha) Young II of Springfield; three sisters, Margaret (Ed) Freshnock of Manhattan, Kan., Phyllis (Damon) Furniss of New Bloomington and Janet (Vince) Delia Rosa of Seminole, Fla.; his mother-in-law, Rachel Prichard of Richwood; and two sisters-in-law, Betty (Don) Wheeler of Radnor and Kathryn (Jim) Price of Magnetic Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood. The Rev. Barb Stevens will officiate and burial will be at the Price Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today.
