Paul H. Swartz, 82, of Richwood died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at The Gables
at Green Pastures in Marysville. He was a 1936 graduate of Essex High School and a 1937 graduate of Richwood High School. He was a retired farmer and had been a radio operator in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He was a member of the Richwood First United Methodist Church and served on the Richwood school board for eight years. He was born March 16, 1919, at the family home in Jackson Township to the late William A. and Lucy Sparks Swartz and was predeceased by a son, Danny Swartz; a brother, Claud Swartz; four sisters, Esther Young, Ethyl Engle, Ethel Wasserbeck and Christa Hastedt; and a granddaughter, Julie Ann Swartz. He married Helen Laverne Martino Feb. 8, 1941, at the Richwood First United Methodist Church and she died Oct. 6, 1991. He then married Maxine Rausch Dec. 27, 1998, and she died in November of 1999. He is survived by a daughter, Peggy Swartz of Columbus; two sons, Jeff (Janet) Swartz and Kelley (Mary Lu) Swartz of Richwood; Karleen Streitenberger of Columbus whom he thought of as a daughter; stepdaughters, Carol Rausch of New Orleans and Connie (Gene) Smith of Louisville, Ky.; grandchildren, Jason (Mandy), Nathan (Teresa) Jennifer, Jerry, Kelton and Kyle Swartz; a great-grandson, Case Daniel; a step-great-granddaughter, Caitie; a sister, Daisy Warner of Richwood; a daughter-in-law, Connie (Joe) Isler of Prospect; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Leila Cunningham of Richwood. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood. The Revs. Jay Decker and Joe Rhea will officiate and burial will be at the Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Memorial contributions may be made to the church at 18 S. Fulton St., Richwood | |||
