Walter "Pete Drake
Dr. Drake practiced in Richwood for 40 years, retiring with his wife Barbara to Tucson, Ariz., in 1987. Barbara died in 1990 and he married Fran Turci in 1993. He was an integral community member, involved in various activities. He was instrumental in the development of the Richwood Community Apartments, the Richwood Civic Center, the consolidation of the school districts and the athletic complex at North Union High School through his leadership in the North Union Athletic Complex and the passing of school levies. Pete and Barbara were very involved in quarter horses and he was co-founder of the Ohio Quarter Horse Association, whose office is located in Richwood, and the annual Ohio Quarter Horse Conference. He is survived by his wife, Fran of Tucson; three sons, Kelly (Linda) Drake of Atlanta, Ga., Tracy (Pam) Drake of Salem, Ohio, and Cody (Allison) Drake of Stoneville, N.C.; stepdaughters, Patricia Ambrose of North Hollywood, Calif., and Candice Turci of Vallejo, Calif.; granddaughters, Evin, Sarah, Emily and Meredith Drake; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Following the memorial service at the funeral home, there will be a gathering of friends and family at the new secretary's office at the Richwood Fairgrounds | |||
