James Oliver Sharp


Services for James Oliver Sharp will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Stofcheck Funeral Home, LaRue, by the Revs. Mark Grimes, Charles Saunders, David Pooler and Doral J. Sharp. Burial will be in Fairvlew Cemetery.
Friends may call noon-2 p.m. Thursday.
He died at 5 p.m. Monday, May 7. 2000, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 22, 1911, in Millpoint, W.Va., to Joseph A. and Gertrude (Vaughn) Sharp. On Feb. 24, 1932. he married Gladys May Wamsiey. who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Chaplain Doral J. (Paula) Sr. of Kenton; two daughters. Gentellene V. Moon of Cridersville and Anvievebelle Moore of Wooster; two brothers, Charles H. of Topeka, Kan. and Clyde E. of Stow; a sister, Dorothy V. Wells of Glendale, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren, 17 greatgrandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jewlene Sharp; five brothers and eight sisters.
He was retired from the Marion Power Shovel Company, where he worked as a welder and set up man.
He was a member of the Victory Center Church of God.
Memorials may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
