Dorothy L. Fields Monroe


Dorothy L. Fields Monroe, 85, of Richwood died Tuesday, Oct. 24,2000, at Marion General Hospital.
She was a 1935 graduate of Byhalia High School and had worked at North Union High School as a custodian. She was a member of Richwood Community United Calvary Church, the Richwood Civic Center and the Kitchen Band.
She was born Aug. 6, 1915, in Washington Township to the late Roscoe and Cora Ellen Bulen Fields and was predeceased by a son, Richard F. Monroe; a special friend, Kenneth Evans; three brothers, Kenneth, Clyde and Charles Fields; and two sisters, Ivaloo Pryor Ansley and Cleo Fields. She married C. Harold Monroe July 22, 1935, in Greenup, Ky., and he died July 31,1986.
She is survived by a son, Ronald L. "Ink" (Judy) Monroe of Richwood; a daughter, Janet Sue (Phil) Williams of Radnor; 10 grandchildren, Rhonda Carter, Roxanne (Barry) Smith, Kelly (LeeAnn) Monroe, Shelly (Dale) Copely, Lacy (Tammy) Monroe, Jim (Rita) Monroe, Tim (Tracey) Monroe, Tami (Bill) Holloway, Nathan Williams, Natalie Williams and Christi (Lee) Houseworth; 24 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Becky Kavanaugh of Richwood.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood. The Rev. Fred Cheney will officiate and burial will be at the Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or the Richwood Civic Center.
