Ralph E. Zachariah, 67, of Richwood died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, at
Kobacker House in Columbus following complications from open heart surgery. He was a 1950 graduate of Kenton Senior High School and in the early 1970s managed the WKTN radio station in Kenton and was known as the "Wanderin' Star." He retired in 1995 from Occidental Chemical in Kenton and was the canteen manager of Richwood VFW Post 870 for the last six years. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and was a lifetime member of VFW Post 870, Verne I. Mounts American Legion Post in Prospect and the Marysville Eagles Lodge. He was born Oct. 15, 1932, in Hardin County to the late George and Kathryn Laura Faurot Zachariah and was predeceased by a sister, Jane Cribbs. He is survived by his wife, Teresa A. Harraman whom he married Aug. 26, 1977, in Richwood; two daughters, Kim (John) Bond of Findlay and Holly Zachariah of Marysville; a son, Tom Zachariah of Kenton; a stepson, Troy Ransome of Richwood; a stepdaughter, Tammy (Mark) Hempy of Prospect; seven grandchildren, Renee and Kristal Smith of Findlay, Justin Shepherd of Marysville, Kaine and Klarke Ransome of Richwood and Michael and Sarah Hempy of Prospect; and two sisters, Donna (Richard) Comstock of Kenton and Sharon (Richard) Kearns of Lima. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood. The Rev. Fred Cheney will officiate and burial will be at the Price Cemetery where veteran graveside services will be conducted by the Richwood VFW and American Legion posts.
