Charles Nelson Shirea


MOUNT GILEAD — Charles Nelson Shirea, age 81, of Wood-side Village in Mount Gilead, formerly of LaRue, died Thursday, Dec. 2,1999, at 6:20 a.m. at Marion General Hospital.
He was born Sept. 8, 1918, in LaRue, Ohio, to the late John M. and Mary Ann (Mammie) Lamb Shirea.
He is survived by seven nieces, Mrs. Pat (Art) VanDyke of Marengo, Ohio, Mrs. Mary (Troy) Hamm of LaRue, Ohio, Mrs. Kaye (Rich) Childree of San Ramon, Calif., Pam Gubernath of Fort Worth, Texas, Mrs. Marcia (Wren) Mayo of Lewistown, Ohio, Mrs. Michele (Melvin) Reynolds of Rocky Point, N.C., Mrs. Jean (Keith) Anderson of Indian Lake, Ohio; four nephews, Robert Showers of Winnabow, N.C., John (Pat) Showers of Yuba City, Calif, Richard Shirea of Roundhead, Ohio, and Ron (Jean) Shirea of New Bloomington, Ohio; many great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Timothy S. and Harry Shirea, and one sister, Mary Evelyn Shirea Showers.
A lifelong resident of LaRue, he was a member of the LaRue Kiwanis Club. He was well known in and around LaRue for his work in bookkeeping and tax work. He was a 1938 graduate of LaRue High School.
Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at 11 a.m. at the LaRue Cemetery. Minister will be the Rev. Dale B. Baker. There will be no calling hours. Those who wish may make contributions to the Kidney Foundation. Stofcheck Funeral Home in LaRue is in charge of arrangements.
