Gerald L. "Bummy" Bumgarner


Gerald L. "Bummy" Bumgarner, 71, of Richwood died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at his home. He was a retired truck driver, having worked for the E & L Trucking Co. of Dearborn, Mich., and for commercial carriers in Marysville. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and of Central Methodist Church in Rich-wood for more than 50 years. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a former member of Richwood American Legion Baccarat Post 40 and he loved to travel.
He was born Feb. 24, 1927, in Richwood to the late Linfred and Helen Hughes Bumgarner. He married Wanda Kierstein on June 19, 1952, in Germany and she died May 8, 1988.
He is survived by a son, Bryan (Lisa) Bumgarner of Richwood; two daughters, Marlies Bumgarner of Columbus and Julia Sessler of Richwood; three grandchildren, Kacey and Evan Bumgarner and Bradley Sessler; a brother, Gale (Sue) Bumgarner of Byhalia; three sisters, Marjorie (Jack) Lane of Columbus, Rosalie (Jack) Monroe of Bradenton, Fla., and Carolyn (Chuck) Johnson of Marysville; and a special friend, Phyllis Oman of Richwood.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood. The Rev. Donna Minarik will officiate and burial will be at the Claibourne Cemetery where veteran's graveside services will be conducted by the Richwood American Legion and VFW posts. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
