Dwight S. Holt


Dwight S. Holt, 83, of Richwood died Tuesday, March 31, 1998, at the Quality Health Care Center in North Port, Fla.
He was a retired farmer and retired in 1980 after 20 years as a maintenance worker at the Whirlpool Corp. in Marion. He was a member of the Essex United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the Essex and Prospect Knights of Pythias Lodge, a former 4-H advisor in the Prospect area and former member of the Phythian Sisters. He had servdd in the CCC as a young man.
He was bom Jan. 16, 1915, in Essex to the late Frank and Ada Eldora Hoffman Holt and was predeceased by a brother, Fay Guy; a sister, Hazel Griffith; a stepbrother; and two stepsisters. He married Virginia Schrote Oct. 27, 1937, and she died July 14, 1974.
He is survived by his second wife, Eleanor F. Snowden Davis Holt whom he married Aug. 30, 1975, at the Essex United Methodist Church; a son, Edwin D. (Lynn Hamill) Holt of Hoboken, N.J.; three daughters, Eleanor C. Smith and Emily I. (Norman) Hobson of Columbus and Eldonna M. (Ernest) McKinniss of Edison; a stepson, Sheldon W. (Brenda) Davis of Oxford; two stepdaughters, Miriam E. Hines of Richwood and Sandra B. (Kenn) Poli-towicz of Brunswick; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Chalmer (Hazel) Holt of Aurora, Colo.; and two sisters, Onalee Cantrell of Evansville, In., and Maxine (Arland) Bartelt of Linworth.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Essex United Methodist Church. The Rev. Carman Minarik will officiate and burial will be at'the Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be the deceased's grandsons.
