Irene Painter


MARION — Irene Painter, age 97, formerly of Richwood, died early Tuesday morning, Feb. 17, 1998, at Marion Manor Nursing Home.
She was born March 7, 1900, in Pike County to parents X.X. and Mary (Johnson) Bayhan.
On Sept. 24, 1928, she married Warren E Painter and he died Nov. 3, 1985.
Along with her husband, she owned and operated a general store in Claibourne and then the former Royal Blue Market in Richwood.
She was a member of the Claibourne United Methodist Church and the Mount Carmel Lodge 42 of the O.E.S.
She is survived by four nieces, Margene (Victor) Markham of Richwood, Bea Brown of Westerville, Virginia (John) Sheets of Obetz and Mary Breunig of Columbus; seven great nephews; two great nieces; and several great-great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 20 at 11 a.m. at Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood, where friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday with Eastern Star Services at 7 p.m. Burial will be in the Claibourne Cemetery with the Rev. Glenn Decker officiating.
