Zell Edward Owen


PROSPECT — Zell Edward Owen, 81, of 4740 Dunbar Road, Prospect, died Tuesday, Nov. 25. 1997, at 9:15 p.m. at Marion General Hospital.
He was born Aug. 26, 1916, in Delaware County to Zell James and Dora (Eital) Owen, who preceded him in death.
On Feb. 15, 1942, he married Maxine M. Freshour; she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Kenneth (Carolyn) Owen of Marion and David Owen of Columbus; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret (Brent) Hendrix of Mount Cory, Ohio; five grandchildren, Robin (Terry) Garver, Kenneth Owen II, Michael Owen, Ashley Hendrix and Leanne Hendrix; three great-grandchildren, T.J. Knotts, Jason Knotts and Melissa Knotts; a sister, Dorothy Collins of Granville, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Mary (Emerson) Owen of LaRue; and many nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Emerson and Paul Owen, and two sisters, Belle Dilsaver and Jennie Gongwer, are deceased.
He was a graduate of Green Camp High School and retired in 1981 from Prospect Farmers Exchange, having worked there 30 years. He was a member of Green Camp United Methodist Church for over 65 years, 7th degree member of Grange, Green Camp Senior Citizens, Prospect Senior Citizens and Tymochtee Grange.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in LaRue. Minister will be the Rev. Douglas A Dowson. Burial in the LaRue Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home in LaRue from 3-8 p.m. Saturday.
