Russell L. Hardin


LARUE —  Russell L. Hardin, 80, 425 E. Vine St., died at 11:15 a.m. Sept. 21 at his residence.
Born June 24, 1917, in Bowling Green Township, he was the son of-the late Grover C. and Viola (Butler) Hardin.
He married Kathryn E. Bonham on May 30, 1941, and she preceded him in death July 4,1966.
Mr. Hardin was a retired self-employed carpenter and contractor. He was a member of LaRue United Methodist Church and former member of LaRue Lodge 463 E&A.M., former mayor of LaRue, and member of Village Council, LaRue and Elgin school boards.
He is survived by a son, Mark R. (Connie) Hardin, LaRue; a daughter, Mrs. William (Nancy) Wiedemann, Marion; two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Helen) Bauer and Miss Martha Hardin, both of LaRue; four grandchildren, Emily Hardin, Chelsea Hardin, Samuel Hardin and Katherine Buettin. She was preceded in death by a grandson, William Russell Hardin, and two brothers.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Stofcheck Funeral Home in LaRue. Burial is in LaRue Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the LaRue Area Park, Quality of Life Hospice or the Marion County Humane Society.
