Elmer "Bob" Shirk


Elmer "Bob" Shirk,72, of Richwood, formerly of the Cardington area, died unexpectedly at the Marion MedCenter Sunday, June 1, 1997.
He was bom June 20,1924, in Broadway to the late Heber and Neva Wright Shirk. He was preceded in death by five brothers.
He was an Army veteran of World War LT and retired in 1986 after 35 years of service at Marion Power Shovel. He also worked at the Osgood Plant. He enjoyed bowling and gardening.
On Jan. 14,1989, at the Essex Parsonage he married the former Ruth Eileen Fisher and she survives. Also surviving are four sons, Daniel Heber Shirk of Mount Gilead, David Malen (Susan) Shirk of Cardington, FrederickPaul (Su-. san Kaye) Shirk of Edison and Robert William Shirk of Cardington; a step-daughter, Sharon Kidwell of Richwood; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Dewey (Rosemary) Shirk of Richwood and Kenneth (Inez) Shirk of Phoenix; and a sister Geneva (Paul)'Chadwick of COlumbus.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday Iune 4,1997, at 2 p.m. at the Stof-check Funeral Home in Richwood. The Rev. Matt Terry will officiate and burial will be at the Price Cemetery where VFW Post 870 and American Legion Baccarat Post 40 will conduct veterans graveside services. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.      
Memorial contributions may be made to the Richwood Emergency Squad Association or the American Heart Association.
