Mapel C. Atherton


Mapel C. Atherton, 82, of Radnor died Saturday, May 3,1997, in the morning at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Sharon Atherton, in Richwood where she had been living.
She was a farm wife, attended the Fulton Creek Friends Church and was a charter member of the Mink Street Good Neighbors Club.
She was born July 6, 1914, in Croton to the late Jacob and Rosa Leffler Geyer. She married Royden Atherton Dec., 24, 1935, in Marysville and he died Nov. 24,1994. She was predeceased by a grandson; two brothers, Arthur Geyer, her twin, and Clarence Geyer, and a sister, Helen Bailey.
She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Hamilton of Harrod; three sons, Marvin (Lillie Y.) Atherton and Larry (Sharon) Atherton of Richwood and Gene Atherton of Marysville; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gladys Geyer of Marysville.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood. The Rev. Charles Fye will officiate and burial will be at the Shoup Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Lee Reese, Keith and Vaughn Atherton, Greg Stinemetz, Gary Robinson, Dave Palmer and Kevin Ackerman.
