George William Walker


George William Walker, 73, formerly of 580 N. Front St., LaRue, died Sunday July 30, 1995 at Community Nursing Center.
Born June 7, 1922, in Buffalo. W.Va., he was the son of the late Julius and Pheba (Sayre) Walker.
On Aug. 6, 1942, he married Judith V. Carlyle, and she survives.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was employed as core paster at Commercial Steel and later at Marion Power Shovel.
He is also survived by three sons, George Wayne Walker, Mount Gilead, John R. Walker, New Bloomington,  Jerry L.  Walker,  LaRue; a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Irene) Ingles, LaRue; three brothers, Roy Walker, New Bloomington, Brady "Pete" Meadows, Marion, Richard Meadows, Caledonia; two sisters,  Mrs.  Herbert  (Bessie) Carlyle, New Bloomington; Betty Roberts, Richwood; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, a brother and two sisters.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Stofcheck Funeral Home, LaRue, with the Rev. David C. Carlyle officiating. Burial is in LaRue Cemetery, where military services will be conducted by Phillippi-Clement Post 101, LaRue. Friends may call at the funeral home 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.
