Chester Kurtz


Chester  Kurtz,   92,   647  N.
Section St., #18, LaRue, died Monday May 22, 1995 at his residence.
He was born Feb. 2, 1903, in Caledonia, the son of the late Charles E. and Pearle (Shreves) Kurtz.
On Jan. 29,1935, he married C. Faye Whitman and she survives.
He retired from Marion Correctional Institution in 1969, where he was a stationary engineer. He was also a farmer and a meat cutter, a member of LaRue United Methodist Church, LaRue Senior Citizens, honorary member of the Weakenders Camping Club, former member of the Knights of Pythias at Essex, and a member of the former Bowling Green Grange.
He is survived by a son, Chester R. Kurtz, Bellefontaine; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Phyllis) Lozo, Westminster, Colo.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Lucille) Norton and Mrs. Martin (June) Gould, both Marion; 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two stepsons, two brothers and three sisters.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday at Stofcheck Funeral Home, LaRue, with the Rev. Joanne Powers officiating. Burial is in LaRue Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.
