James Ellsworth "Butch" Drake


LARUE—James Ellsworth "Butch" Drake, 81, New Bloomington, died early Wednesday morning January 11, 1995 at Marion Manor in Marion.
Born Oct..4,1913. in Marion County, he was the son of the late Earl and Mabel (Manley) Drake. On Oct. 5, 1940, he married Clara O. Whittaker and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Jerry L. Drake of Fort Wayne, Ind. and J. Thomas Drake, Des Moines, Iowa; two sisters, Helen Clapsaddle, Richwood, and Rachel Willis, Marion; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Mr. Drake was retired from Probst Supply, where he worked for 32 years. He was a member of New Bloomington United Methodist Church; Odd Fellows Lodge, New Bloomington; Eagles Lodge, Marion; and Meeker Sportsmans Club. He played in the Eagles band and also the first FFA band in the United States in 1930, which was in Marion Countv.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Stofcheck Funeral Home, LaRue, with the Rev. Keith Weller officiating. Burial is in Agosta Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 p.m. on through the evening Friday at the funeral home.
