Fern Monson


Fern Monson, 87, of Richwood died unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1993, at her residence.
She was a former teacher at the Essex and LaRue schools. She and her husband owned and operated the Hoist Bay Resort in northern Minnesota for over 30 years. She was a member of the Essex United Methodist Church and the WSCS and was an active member of the Richwood Civic Center, where she served on the board of trustees.
She was born Sept. 30,1905, in Jackson Township to the late Clarence and LennaWatkins Parish. On June 13,1928, she married Cyril (Ted) Monson at the family home in Essex and he preceded her in death on Sept 20,1987. She was also predeceased by an infant son, five brothers and a sister.
She is survived by a brother, Olin Parish of Richwood; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood. The Rev. Bernard Kenney will officiate and interment will be at the Price Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Pall bearers will be Bill Parish, Larry Parish, Cloyce Parish, John Monson, Gary Collins and Tim Monroe.
