Cletus Marion Murphy


Cletus Marion Murphy, 80. 540 E. Market St., LaRue, died Friday morning January 29, 1993 at his residence.
He was born in Payne July 26,1912. a son of Asa Lee and Hattie Bennett Murphy.
He farmed all his life and also was a truck driver, and served as school bus driver for Elgin Local Schools for over eight years. He had also been Justice of the Peace for Bowling Green Township, and served two terms as township trustee.
Mr. Murphy, a Harpster High School graduate, was a member of LaRue United Methodist Church, member of Tymochtee Grange, having been active in the Grange movement for 64 years, and had memberships in camping clubs, the N.C.H.A. Wyandot Club and Good Sams Club.
On Dec. 7, 1935. he married the former Lodena M. Brady, and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Earl E. Murphy, Bowling Green Township, and Wayne L. Murphy, Fulton; a daughter, the Rev. Rose Ann Wilson, North Robinson; two brothers, Asa Murphy, Bucyrus, and Gilbert Murphy, Nevada; three sisters, Vera Park. New Bloomington, Wanda Atkins, Willard, and Marjorie Sabo, Bucyrus; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A brother is deceased.
The service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Stofcheck Funeral Home, LaRue. with the Rev. David M. Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in Grand Prairie Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to LaRue UM Church.
