Sylvester Higgins

Sylvester Higgins, 84, 140 Carey Street, New Bloomington, died unexpectedly Sunday morning January 3, 1993 at Marion General Hospital.
Born April 23, 1908,in Clark County, W.Va., he was the son of Richard A. and Rosa Higgins. In 1940, he married Anna M. Walker. She died Aug. 4, 1988.
He is survived by six sons, Richard A., Richwood, Floyd T., Jerry D. and James E., Marion, Curtis L., LaRue, and Charles R., San Angelo, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Lilly) Beltz, Marion; seven brothers, Glenn, Roger and Ralph, West Virginia, Tom, Niagra Falls, N.Y., Charles and Bill, East Liverpool, and George, Lorain; a sister, Jerri, West Virginia; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Mr. Higgins was a retired farmer and attended Espyville Enterprise Baptist Church. He also was a member of Meeker Senior Citizens.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Stofcheck Funeral Home, LaRue, with the Rev. Paul McKenzie officiating. Burial is in Price Cemetery. Friends may call 2-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
