Raymond Paul Schmidt


LARUE—Raymond Paul Schmidt, 2580 LaRue-Marseilles Road, died at his home Thursday afternoon Dec 10, 1992.
Born Jan. 19,1921, in New Bloom-ington, he was the son of Daniel and Isabelle Montgomery Schmidt. Mr. Schmidt worked as a licensed boiler operator for 35 years at Quaker Oats. He was a water tender second class with the U.S. Navy during World War JJ, serving four years on the USS South Dakota. He was a member of the New Bloomington United Methodist Church; the Quaker Oats Retirees Breakfast Club; Moose Lodge, Marion; and the Phil-lippi Clement Post 101 of the American Legion in LaRue.
He married Ivalou Gamble on Oct. 31,1945, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Danny Ray Schmidt, Monroe, Mich., and Douglas Eugene Schmidt, Marion; a brother, Charles Richard Schmidt, Marion; and two grandchildren. A brother, Lowell Schmidt, is deceased.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home, LaRue, with the Rev. John T. Schlicher officiating. Burial is in LaRue Cemetery. There will be a Legion service at the cemetery.
Friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
