Ivan Eugene Cooper


Ivan Eugene Cooper, 78,1131 Win-hemac Pike, LaRue, died Thursday evening July 30, 1992 at the home of his sister, Madge Guthery Marshall in Marion.
Born May 7,1914, in Fairbury, HI., he was the son of Fred Guy and Selina Lily (Howarth) Cooper.
On Oct. 20, 1934, he married the former Ruby E. Chard. She preceded  him in death June 27, 1992.  Mr. Cooper came to LaRue in 1918. He graduated from LaRue High School in 1931 and attended the Ohio State University. He worked for the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation for 46 years. He started in 1931 as an insurance agent fete became manager of Marion County Co-Op in 1937; manager of Erie County Co-Op, 1944; manager of Lorain County Co-Op, 1946. He became regional    supervisor of'Ohio Farm Bureau Federation North District in 1950. In 1970, he became director of Livestock and Dairy Programs and retired in 1979.
He served as chairman of Ohio Beef Council for 14 years and was on its board of directors.
He was an active member of LaRue United Methodist Church serving on the Outreach Committee, Pastor Parish Relations Committee and the Administrative Council. He formerly sang in the church choir.
Surviving are four sons, Gene Cooper, Grand Rapids, Mich., Keith Cooper, Oxford, Jon Cooper, LaRue, and Michael Cooper, Galion; a sister, Madge Guthery Marshall, Marion; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren,
A brother and sister died in infancy.
The funeral is 2 pjn. Sunday at LaRue United Methodist Church with the Rev. David M. Elliott officiating. Burial is in LaRue Cemetery. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Stofcheck Funeral Home, LaRue.
