Esther LaVerne McMahan

Esther LaVerne McMahan, 88, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, at the Gables
at Green Pastures.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Claibourne United Methodist Church
where she was a Sunday School teacher and a 4-H advisor for the
Claibourne Calico Cooks.
She was born May 3, 1914, in Dunkirk to the late Carl and Anna Stroud
Grappy and was predeceased on July 25, 1982, by her husband, Ralph J.
McMahan whom she married March 10, 1936.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda (Dale) Poling of Mount Victory
and Beckie (Mike) Congrove of Marysville; a son, Dennis J. (Cindy)
McMahan of Richwood; four sisters, Marge Greenwood of LaRue, Mary
(Ralph) Sickmiller and Anna Mae (Bob) Keller of Marion and Jean (Bob)
Donnelly of Toledo; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Ballinger Funeral
Home in Richwood. The Rev. Glenn Decker will officiate and burial will
be at the York Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Claibourne United Methodist
Church. Cards will be available at the funeral home.
