John Richard Jolliff, 83, of Bellefontaine, formerly of Byhalia, died
Friday, Aug. 29, 2003, at Heartland of Bellefontaine. He owned the Harris, Jolliff and Michel Lumber Yard in Byhalia and was a member of the former Byhalia United Methodist Church, Ohio Lumberman's Association, Union County Fair Board and Lions Club. He was an active member of the Union County Republican Party and served on the board of directors for the Richwood Banking Company, M&M Bank and Memorial Hospital of Union County. He was born April 23, 1920, in Union County to the late Delbert Grant and Eva Krouskup Jolliff and was predeceased by three brothers, Charles, Paul and Delbert Grant "Junior" Jolliff; and two sisters, Mildred Cummins and Rachel Harris. He married Margaret Maxine Clark May 23, 1941, and she died Dec. 22, 1983. He was also predeceased by his second wife, Betty Miller Jolliff, to whom he was married for four years before her death. He is survived by two sons, Robert Grant (Rebecca) Jolliff of Zanesfield and John Dennis (Sue) Jolliff of Findlay; two daughters, Jennifer Coons of Richwood and Linda Pope of Genoa; six grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; and a sister, Kay Lower of Michigan. Funeral services were held Monday at the Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood with the Rev. Joseph Rhea officiating and burial was at the Byhalia Cemetery.
