Calvin Lee Markin


Calvin Lee Markin, 44, of Columbus died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at the James Cancer Hospital at the Ohio State University.  He was a restaurant manager employed by Papa John's in Worthington and was an avid OSU fan. He was a 1978 graduate of North Union High School and was among the top players on his basketball and track teams. He loved his four Siberian huskies, Sly, Barney, Psycho and Gizmo.  He was born Dec. 7, 1959, in Delaware and was predeceased by his father, Ralph W. Markin and an infant brother  .He is survived by his mother, Jewell Wilson Markin of Richwood; two sisters, Patricia (Rick) Wilson of Marysville and Kim (Jason)Burns of Delaware; three nieces, Stacey (Phil) Salmons and Jennifer (Shawn) Mitchell of Marysville and Courtney DeGood of Delaware; a nephew, Barry Scheiderer of Columbus; three great-nephews; an uncle, Larry (Janet) Markin of Richwood; and an aunt, Ruby Steck of Marysville.  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood. The Rev. James M. Taylor will officiate and burial will be at the Raymond Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
