Mary Ellen Somerlot, 77, of Prospect died Thursday, June 5, 2003, at her
home. She was a homemaker and a member of the Prospect United Methodist Church, past president of American Legion Post 368 Auxiliary and VFW Post 7201 Auxiliary and past member of the Amvets Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing pool and cards and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She liked the color red. She was born Jan. 20, 1926, to the late Robert and Leona Hayes Holcomb and was predeceased by a son, Gene Somerlot; two sisters; and two brothers. She married Paul F. Somerlot Sept. 27, 1943, and he died June 9, 1983. She is survived by two daughters, Paula (Gene) Utley of Prospect and Vicky (Dennis) Hardie of Marion; 10 grandchildren, Kiersten and Keili Somerlot, Jeff and Scott Fox, Kendal Kincaid, Jeremy Utley, James Howald, Lance Howald, D.J. Hardie and Amber Good; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Linda Somerlot of Cummins, Ga.; and a special friend, Kenneth Owings. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Gehm-Ballinger Funeral Home in Prospect. The Rev. Dan Kiger will officiate and burial will be at the Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to Quality of Life Hospice, 278 Barks Road, Marion, Ohio 43302, or the Gideon Society. | |||
