Clarence Edwin Kietzman


Clarence Edwin Kietzman, 95, of Midland, Mich., Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002.
He moved to central Ohio with his family at the age of 7 and spent his
early youth in Marysville where he attended Trinity Lutheran School. He
was employed by the Huber Company in Marion and spent most of his life
farming in the Delaware and Marion County areas. He was a longtime
member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Prospect and his life was filled
with caring for family, friends and neighbors. He moved to Midland,
Mich., in 2000 to be near his family and kept abreast of hometown Ohio
through local newspapers and letters. He enjoyed reading about history
and liked learning of various aspects of agriculture and the Buckeye
sports scene.
He was born March 17, 1907, in Ashgrove Township, Iroquois County,
Cissna Park, Ill., to the late Emil Julius and Elizabeth Meyer Kietzman
and was predeceased by two brothers, Walter and Leonard; two sisters,
Amelia Farris and DelSrena Meyers; two sisters-in-law, Bess and Edna;
and two brothers-in-law, Walter Farris and Richard Meyers; and in 1982
by his wife, Henrietta May Geer Kietzman whom he married Aug. 31, 1929.
He is survived by two daughters, Ethelen (John) Herbstreit of Grand
Ledge, Mich., and Mary Alice (Darryl) Crabb of Midland, Mich.; five
grandchildren, Deborah Herbstreit, Michael (Daleann) Herbstreit, Mark
Herbstreit, Krista (John) Crabb Kane, Danae (David) Graves; five
great-grandchildren, Ashleigh, Emily, Breanna, Sydney and Cameron;
nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and many other
relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran
Church in Prospect. The Rev. Stephen S. Bull will officiate and burial
will be at the Radnor Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today
at the Gehm-Ballinger Funeral Home in Prospect and from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
Friday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church at
200 E. Water St., Prospect, Ohio 43342; Trinity Lutheran Church, 3701
Jefferson Ave., Midland, Mich. 48640; or MidMichigan Hospice, 3007 N.
Saginaw Road, also in Midland.
